The radio jingle “Integration starts with understanding” is a part of the media campaign Taste of Home, whose goal is informing the public about questions of integration of refugees into our society and also warning us about the obstacles and problems which they face. The campaign is jointly carried out by Fade In and Center for Peace Studies.
This radio jingle, which represents refugees from different countries who are now living in Croatia, addresses language as one of the main barriers that refugees face, and also the first requirement for quality integration. In addition, the jingle points to a broader problem of general misunderstanding and non-acceptance of differences and to society’s responsibility in eliminating obstacles that prevent refugees in participating in everyday life.
The media campaign is part of the project “Quality integration solutions for refugees” supported by the European Union from the European Social Fund “Investing in your future” and the Office for Cooperation with NGOs of the Croatian government.
