Close tastes of the East in Zagreb

The cooks of Taste of Home are still working hard! Penny, our guest from the USA, described how participating in the workshop is very exiting. She got to know a lot of new and interesting people, and a part of her team was our chef Rabah from Algeria. „It is fascinating how easy it is to connect with somebody while cooking together, even though you don't share the same language“, Penny said of her team. She shared with us her recipe of moutabal (baba ganush):

7 egg-plants

1,5 kg of yogurt

Cup of tahini

lemon

garlic

salt

Heat up the egg-plants over the fire, then dry them and take of their skin. Let them cool off.

Yogurt, tahini, chopped garlic and salt mix in a bowl. Then mash the egg-plants and add to the mixture of yogurt until it is monotonous.

Serve with olive oil.

Our Martina is also enjoying the workshop. It is fun and interesting for her, especially because she is working alongside so many different people. „Everything is tasty and exotic and smells great“, she added. As she loves cooking a lot, her plan is collecting all the recipes of today's dishes and trying them at home, because many of them she didn't have a chance to taste before. In the end she shared her hummus recipe:

250 grams of peeled, cooked chickpeas

1 clove of garlic

Olive oil

Juice from half of lemon

Chopped parsley

A big spoon of tahini.

Mix all the ingredients until you get an even paste. Serve with olive oil and parsley.
